HISTORY OF NICAA

The Northwest Indiana Community Art Association, Inc. (NICAA) has been part of our area's cultural scene since the summer of 2019.  It became a reality through the efforts of a group of women who wanted to be able to offer the opportunity to other women and men to enjoy and learn about art-related topics.  Over the last six years, our organization has been able to do just that, even with a bit of a hiccup known as Covid!

Our Board Members have enjoyed working together to bring interesting, educational and entertaining in-person lectures, lunches and bus trips to over 300 members year after year.  Offerings ranging from "The Art of Cooking,"  Green Architecture, and ballet to wonderful lectures by favorites Jeff Nigro, Jeff Mishur and Leslie Goddard have kept our members coming back year after year to enjoy these programs.  Our Study Group members have had the opportunity to learn about fashion, multi-media art, origami and a myriad of other topics.

As we begin our seventh season, we are grateful for the continued support, kindness and positive comments from our NICAA members.  As NICAA's President, I would like to thank all of our Board Members who have worked together to plan such quality presentations in beautiful venues.  We are excited to share with all of you the programs being offered during our 2025-2026 season.  I hope all of you enjoy these programs, along with the opportunity to meet new and interesting people, as well as the chance to nurture older friendships among the NICAA community.  Thank you so much for your continued participation.

"Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness.  It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind.  As the sun colors the flowers, so does art color life."

John Lubbock (1834-1913), "The Pleasures of Life"
